Why I wrote this book

I have been writing all of my life – stories, letters, articles, eulogies, sermons, poems, thoughts and ideas that occupied my thoughts on long commutes, late evenings, and certainly on quiet trails far from the distractions of everyday life. I love words used well, the exploration of ideas, expressing my thoughts in a way that is eloquent and honest. The result, after more than 60 years, was a portfolio that included transcribed stories, Christmas letters, poems written in tattered trail notebooks, family letters, short articles about my parents – all kept on my hard drive, and in later years,, published on our farm website.

I think it might have been my grand-daughter Mykah’s example of self-publishing a book that prompted me to consider organizing my collection into an anthology illustrating the important aspects of my life – family, farm, faith, trails and adventures, and especially the stories that formed the bedtime conversations for so many years and so many children. So I started. When the initial collection was complete, I needed a title, something that would convey my overwhelming wonder and gratitude for the life I have been able to live, almost like Heaven on earth. I realized that for me, the words in the Lord’s prayer “Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven” are the substance of my daily life. I see Heaven here..
